With the festive season upon us, we’re encouraging all Victorians to Be Present; the best gift you can give is being there.

We’re spreading the Christmas cheer by asking Victorians to share a very special moment which we often take for granted. The moment we arrive at our destination, greeted by those we love.

In addition to this video, we’re working on a video created by Victorians, featuring these joyous moments captured around Christmas time.

Visit our Facebook page and upload your video or photo in the comments below our competition post or alternatively you can upload it to Instagram using #BePresent2017 to get involved! We’re keeping an eye out for great entries to include in our very own #BePresent2017 video that you can expect to see after Christmas.

Have a safe and happy Christmas!

Competition opens: 5pm Friday December 15, 2017

Be Present Display - Melbourne

The ‘Be Present’ display, part of the City of Melbourne’s Christmas festival at Federation Square, encourages visitors to spread the road safety message via social media. Visitors can sing a Christmas carol with Santa in a giant snow dome, filming a video reminding people that the best thing they can give their loved ones this Christmas is to be there.

#BePresent

Be Present Regional Events

‘Be Present’ will also tour regional and suburban carol events as part of an effort by the state’s road safety agencies to keep Victorians safe on the roads.  The TAC will have a strong presence in regional Victoria these holidays, with country Victorians four times more likely to be killed on the roads than in metropolitan Melbourne.

This year the "Be Present" inflatable photobooth is back to tour regional carols events. Visitors will be invited to dress up as presents and have their photo taken for a personal Christmas Card.

Events will be held in the following regional cities and towns:

December 11: Sorrento
Sorrento Foreshore – 3278 Nepean Road, Sorrento

December 15: Hampton Park
Cairns Rd Recreation Reserve
Activation: 4:30pm-9:30pm

December 17: Shepparton
Queens Garden
Activation: 6pm-9:30pm

December 19: Cowes
Cowes Esplanade
Activation: 5pm-9:30pm

As we aim for a future free of road deaths and serious injuries, we're asking all Victorians to take care on our roads and "Be Present" for Christmas because there is no one someone won’t miss.

Working hand-in-hand with the TAC, Victoria Police have an enforcement program which will see increased police presence with almost 1000 additional hours of police shifts on Victoria’s roads during the festive season and into the New Year.

A safe driving message from VicRoads

The TAC, Victorian Government, VicRoads and Victoria Police are working together to encourage everyone to "Be Present" this Festive Season, asking drivers to slow down, plan their trips and make safe choices when hitting the road these holidays.
